FAQs

  • What are the benefits of high-grade insulation?

Attic insulation acts as a thermal, acoustic and moisture barrier between the roof and the property below.  Chosen carefully, one type of insulation will work effectively on all these areas, complementing the measures already in place to reduce condensation and provide a weathertight roofing solution.

AAA Roofmasters Ltd. can provide blown-in cellulose or spray foam insulation.

Blown-in cellulose insulation has an extremely high content of recycled material. It's made up of 85% recycled newspaper that has been chemically treated which makes it fire resistant, mold resistant, and pest resistant. Cellulose is blown into the attic space using high-pressure equipment. Its R-value is about 3.5/inch.

  • What types of insulation do you offer?

AAA Roofmasters Ltd. can provide blown-in cellulose or spray foam insulation.

Blown-in cellulose insulation is a plant-based insulator that’s blown into the attic space using high-pressure equipment. Its R-value is about 3.5/inch.

Spray foam insulation may be either open or closed-cell. The R-value of open-cell spray foam is around 3.7/inch. Closed-cell spray foam insulation has an R-value as high as 7/inch.

  • How long does insulation take to install?

The short answer is that it depends on a number of different factors. Some of these are:

    - The size and shape of the area that needs insulating. Awkwardly shaped attic spaces, split-level attics or attics that present other challenges due to their configuration will take longer to insulate correctly.

    - The amount of preparation that’s needed. In some properties, existing insulation may need to be removed before the fresh insulation can be applied. There may be repairs that should be carried out before the insulation is laid down. These preparatory measures will add to the time the insulation project takes.

    - The type of insulation required. Whilst insulation that’s applied via a blower or spray is reasonably quick to apply, using batts or rolls of insulation is going to take longer. When you contact us for a quote, we will give you an idea of the difference in timescales, so that you can factor that in when making your decision on what type of insulation to choose.

    - Factors that are unique to the property. From the need to carry out structural work before the insulation can be installed through to delays whilst other contractors complete their work, weather conditions or similar issues, each insulation project may have circumstances that mean the work will take longer.

We will always discuss these with you before commencing work so that you know what to expect.
